About Helen

“My aim is to use the skills and knowledge I have gained over many years towards my goal of facilitating excellent, heartfelt communication.  Much of my freelance consultancy has been in the voluntary sector.  I value equal opportunities, aiming to show respect for the individual at all times whatever their background or their current state of mind, and I worked for three years as a Disability Conciliator.  I have been a volunteer neighbour mediator, and am currently a volunteer tutor with Manchester PCT for the Expert Patients Programme.

“I combine keen analytical skills with sensitivity to underlying issues, and the courage to challenge where appropriate.  In all situations, I strive to bring a calm, reassuring presence and the trust that, with the right support, people can find their own answers.

National Council of Voluntary Organisations Approved Consultant 2007“I am personally committed to a high standard of service to all clients, and I use feedback and evaluation from projects to inform my own continued improvement as well as for the benefit of the client organisation.  As a sole trader I carry out projects in close collaboration with the client, bringing in carefully-selected associates to complement my skills and extend capacity where necessary.  I have also worked as an associate with other organisations and consultancies, including the Phoenix Group, TPAS and Fokkina McDonnell Associates.

“My reflective approach is supported by regular supervision and personal coaching sessions, and I am committed to continuing my own personal and professional development.”
